Background
The League of Women Voters has been leasing a room at the Lafayette Community Center
since
1985.
Annual payments have been as follows:

In January 2000, the PTR Commission recommended raising the
annual rate to better match the revenues that were being generated
by the other Community Center classrooms.

Reiuest to Renew the Lease
The current lease expired on April 30 2009. The League of Women Voters would like to renew
its lease and continue to share the space with Lafayette Moraga Youth Association (LMYA).
The lease would still be between the City and the League of Women Voters.
Discussion
There is a current demand for additional classroom space for recreational purposes but staff
and the Parks, Trails & Recreation Commission are aware that the "Book Room" will become
vacant as soon as the new Library and Learning Consortium is completed. In the meantime,
the PTR Director recommends the City continue to provide a space for the League of Women
Voters and LMYA for another three-year term under the same 3% annual increase.
Recommendation
Renew a lease with the League of Women Voters for another three years at the following
annual rates: $12,732 beginning May 1,2009; $13,114 beginning May 1,2010 and $13,507
beginning May 1, 2011.

The League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley would like to continue leasing "The
Boardroom's at the current rate of $1061.00 per month for the next three years. The
Lafayette Moraga Youth Association will continue to sublease half of the space.
